The United Kingdom and The United States of America are both States not regions. That argument does not hold water. Not to mention states such as The Peoples Republic of China, The Republic of China (both separate entities), The Congo and many more show this rule is not hard and fast.

I'm not saying "The" Ukraine is the correct form, as its is obvious it is not and to me that is simply because Ukrainian doesn't have a definite article like English does. I'm just saying that "The" can be grammatically correct when used in such cases.

The definitive article is used on nations that are either written as plural, adjectival, or compound. That's why it is used for USA, ROC, UK, etc.

and don't ignore that we are referring to 18th century, pre-state Ukraine

I haven't ignored anything, if you remember correctly I have even stated in Ukraine's case the usage of "the" is incorrect. Furthermore Ukraine as a region is a very different place to Ukraine as a State.

yes its what ak-murza said its the tatar and scandinavian blood. for othrs on the western side you can see some have ligher and darker skin.

Those with darker skin most likely have tatar, mongul, or romanian heritage.

Scientists even found genomes in ukrainians from scythians and sarmatians(iranian nomadic groups) so i dont know if that could make a difference either. Im not sure what they look like.

scythians and sarmatians and alans were originally considered turks and then they were considered persians speakers.
So lets just say there was a mix of persian and turkic blood there.
