I am a college student in the United States and am currently in the process of writing a paper regarding the Ukrainian Economy, since your independence. I already have basic information and stats, yet I have yet to truly understand the impact that the transition has had the everyday Ukrainian Citizen.

What I am searching for is a personal perspective, "story" or "insider" information that could paint a more clear picture of your transition, the good, and the bad. I would like to know how life has changed since your independence and what effects if any it has had on you, (physically, mentally, politically, socially, etc..) And what do you believe to be the number one reason why the Ukraine has struggled since independence and what needs to be done in order to raise the incomes of the everday citizen.

If anyone who lives in the Ukraine or is from the Ukraine and could give any insight I would be incredibly greatful.

I appoligize if I sound like a "dumb american" or completely ignorant. I know that The Ukraine is a great country full of talented, educated, and sophisticated individuals and you have made incredible strides since independence. That is why I am interested in your story.

Hi I wrote to a man I know who is working on his PhD in economics here in the States. He is from Ukraine. He is very busy and I cannot guarantee you an answer from him but I know he will try if he can. Good Luck!

Thank you so much. If I were to get in touch with him via email that would be great. I will be working on a series of papers throughout this semester on the Ukrainian Economy and I am sure your friends expertise would be extremely beneficial.

-God bless

Yes, I am.
Concerning personal story, each one will be very subjective. To my mind the best way to get the idea of what is going on in Ukraine during the last 10 years is to read Godfather by Mario Puso.
