I am a university student who is a second-generation Ukrainian. My grandparents immigrated to the US after WWII. I am researching Ukraine's involvement in this war, and I'm particularly interested in the UPA. My grandfather is rumored to have fought (in Halychyna) for a division of the UPA that collaborated with the SS.
I would like to maintain email correspondence with anyone who is knowledgeable about this subject. I do not speak Ukrainian, but my mother does, and she could help with translations.
Thank you!

Dear Eve,

I'm proud to inform you that my grandpa was kicking UPA voyaks' a$$es as a Red Army soldier
At that time they were considered high-treasoners and enemies of the people and had to be wiped out, no prisoners taken.
Today I work for a son of a German soldier who fought in WW2 and perished somewhere near Smolensk, Russia. My German boss is the nicest person I have ever worked with.

Eve, I'm an avid reader of military history and after 2 decade of reading about WWII in Western Europe I've started reading materials on war in Eastern (( been working in the Balkans for 3 years)) Are you going to publish your research or is it for class work? Mind sharing with me?

my e address tjm308@hotmail.com if you reply make sure to refer to the Ukraine or SS or I'll delete it -- get lots of junk.

eve,

How far are you into the subject already? Just curious where to start. Hope I didn't scare you away by mentioning my grandpa. History, and 20-th century in particular, is amongst my hobbies, so I know some. And I know where to get more info.

Somniferous,

No, you didn't scare me away! The research is not very far along at all--I'm just beginning. I'm still not sure where the best place is to start, and it's very helpful that there seem to be some knowledgeable members here. Any info that you could email me would be very helpful!

There are 3 judgemental categories of info about UPA that can be supplied.
1. positively biased (admiration)
2. negatively biased (condemnation)
3. neutral, unbiased

Which one would you like?

I think that I'd like the neutral view--or whichever would be the most factual. That is, I'd like to know all that the UPA engaged in, good AND bad.
Again, thank you for your help!
