I'm new to this website.
I'm doing a project for my Advance Placement European History class about the present state and conditions of Ukraine. It is easy to find out basic information like the population, area of ukraine, etc. but I want and need an insider view. Some things I would like to know are: -Attitudes toward Americans -Average daily activities -family expectations and makeup -employment opportunities -cultural icons and core values -education system Any help would be appreciated to be emailed or reply back to this post. Sincerely Thanks, -Kristen Washington, USA |

Hello Kristen
I'm sorry to say that Ukraine.com may not be the best place to find the answers you are looking for. Although there are many people here who are from Ukraine, or have been there, there are even more who have not. I have found in the past though the best source of information, apart from travelling there is often within the Ukrainian community of the city you are in. Some of the best sources often are community college language teachers who have been there, and are familiar with contemporary issues facing Ukraine. Other sources could be a local Ukrainian congress group (Canada has this- a group that basically is a voice in how Canada conducts itself with Ukraine, and the Ukrainian community at home). Try searching the web for local links. Another shot is local museums, or organizers of cultural events (Ukrainian dance festivals or organizers of local Ukrainian radio shows). I hope this helps you. It can be hard to find in American cities, where the Ukrainian community is not as visible as in Canada, where the 1/30 of the population is of Ukrainian decent. And it is certainly the best way to go, to discuss with sources firsthand. Any other questions just ask. You may want to ask Irena, or Irinka- they seem to be the dynamic duo around here. Good luck. It is true that you can get a lot of information about Ukraine form ukrainian community in Washington if I am not wrong DC. It is not so big community here(Washington), because I am from Washington, but you still can find some help. I actually returned from Ukraine a few weeks ago, my relatives live there, and I lived there for a long time, so it might be that I can help you; just write me any question you would like to ask
