Hi All...

Hello everyone... I'm off to Przemysl in Poland later in the year in search of my wife's ancestors, and possibly to Ukraine next year, so I thought it would be nice to learn a little about the Ukraine, seeing as the region shares much of the same history with Poland.

I'll come clean also and ask if it's possible for a Ukrainian reader to look at the writing on the back of two photos for me - is that request allowed in the forums? What can I offer in return? Well not much as far as the Ukraine is concerned, though I'm happy to help where I can if anyone is searching North West England (Liverpool) for ancestors.

Hi Steve,

I could help you for sure. Hello from Ukraine and welcome to it. Peremyshl is our constant pain.

Thanks, Serhii, that's kind of you. I've posted links to the two photos in the Language forum. If you've time to take a look that would be wonderful.

What's up with Peremyshl?

I'm a bit daunted by going therer. We're going to spend most of our time in Krakow, and pay a flying visit down to Przemysl. I've been learning Polisih, but it's a fiendishly difficult language I think, and while my mixture of broken Polish and English (and arm waving) will undoubtedly get me by in Krakow, I imagine Przemysl will be much more "Polish" (or Ukrainian). So I'm guessing communication might be a challenge!
