Has anyone ever come accross the Ukrainian Male Chior "Burlaka" 1948. I have just been given a photo of my grandad in this. Any info would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

Thumbs up Burlaka

Hania, I dont know how to thank you enough.....the photo you forwarded to me of the choir shows my grandad 2nd row, 3rd from the end V. Kalamuniak.
I cried when I opened it. This is the 1st big thing I have had in the 4 years I have been looking for information. I obviously have not got the correct name spelling here as on this photo it is V Kalamuniak and I have Paulischuk on other documents. The photo you sent is identical to the one we found here! It has opend up a whole new lead for me now. You are an angel. I cant thank you enough. It will be 16 years on Wednesday to the day he died. I have never got over it. I can order the CD from them.

Our whole family thanks you!
Kristy

Kristy,

The URL is broken. I tried Internet Archives, but had no luck.

Burlaka became Homin in 1949. Homin was under the patronage of AUGB/Assn of Ukrainians in Great Britain.
J(Y)aroslav Babuniak was the Homin Choir Director @ Manchester Ukrainian Center - 188 Cheetham Hill Rd. He is J. Babuniak in Buraka Choir. He may be able to provide you w/some personal details. There must be an archives w/Homin membership list???

I saw some Homin choir pictures w/a fellow by the name of Volodymir Polishchuk???

Ask re Mr. Pankiv, author of book, containing picture w/Grandfather.
Brotherhood of Veterans of the First Ukrainian Division UNA

It will mean a lot of work, but why not go thru all the names listed on picture. Grandfather had to have had personal relationships w/these guys. Maybe some are still alive to help you clarify details???

PS> I am still working on locating mwmota, the person w/CD offer.

Smile Burlaka / Homin

Hi Hannia,
Thanks once again.

I saw some Homin choir pictures w/a fellow by the name of Volodymir Polishchuk??? This was my grandads name as we have it written down here on documnets!!!!! Where did you see these photos?

I have emailed the adress (UCC) you have given me.
I will now try to speak with the AUGB today to see if they can help. I cannot find the book anywere on the net. Why do you think his name ofn the photo would be spelled V Kalamuniak? Do you think just a mistake or an interpretation of the spelling we have here?
Many thanks Hannia for you rhelp
