Talking Hannia, hello & thanks from the past!

Hi there, it's been ages since I've had a chance to pop in and visit and would like to bring you up to date.

First of all this is Cathy Sockol. Since you help so many, I'm sure you will have forgotten me.

You helped me ages ago with researching my husband's mystery families. Those, "Austrian, Ruthenian, Hungarian, Polish...." families out of the "little villages in the Carpathian Mountians"!

I followed through with a public "thanks" on my web site, but wanted to let you know that I am in the process of playing with a book on the "how to" of geneaological research and would like to include a thank you in this as well.

In the meantime, I'm still plugging away on these mystery famililes of the Sokol, Fredmonsky, Hargoncik lines with Vasyl remaining our deepest mystery to date!

Those family members found

Sorry, I didn't realize I should have added this until it was too late to edit and add to my original post.

Guess it would have been nice for me to list what I have found so far!

Adolf Frydmanaki - birth (circa 1865-1870) listed as Felsoviznicze, Austro-hungary arrived in the US Sept. 1896 aboard the Firesland.

Anna Hargoncik Friedmansky (wife of Adolf) - born 1871 in Orichovcja, Transcarpathian Oblast, Ukraine with two oldest sons Michael and Peter arrived in the US July 1897 on the SS Georgia.

Surname has been found as Frydmanaki, Fredmonski, Friedmansky & Fredmonsky!

Vasyl Sokol - born 1889, Vyshnja Vyznyzja, Bereg Co, Ukraine. Was in a Monastery from the ages of 9-13 or 14. Father had property from which he felled trees to burn for charcoal, which was then sold to churches and schools. His native language is listed as Russian on census records in the US. He arrived in the US in 1906.

I have still not found his records, although I have found 3 or 4 records that bear closer scrunity.

So, while it goes slowly, it has at least moved forward a bit from the complete unknows I once had!
