Looking in to my family history, our record say my grandmother was from Dehove-Dechowa-Dehoma area east of Rogatin-Rohatyn , I am using old Polish maps and find several different spelling for the same town. The family name is Piwowarszyn. The family immigrated in 1912 to the US. Where is there a good source of genealogy research for the Ukraine? Any help would be appreciated

Dehova > Rohatyn > Ivano-Frankivsk

From late 18th century to 1919 wies/village Dehowa (Polish name) > Rohatyn was both the administrative and judicial/tax district > Ivano-Frankivska Region (formerly to 1967 was called Stanislawow > Galicia/Halychyna, administered by ethnic Poles for the AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE. My grandmothers name was Marcella (same as Marcelina I think), that is how it spelled on her marriage certificate. Her maiden name was Charmialuk. She remarried in the US after both of her previous husbands died of TB. They where Piwowarszyn (brothers). She had several children in the Ukraine but lost track of them after immigrating to the US. Her second husband died shortly after arriving here.
Is the LDS cataloging church records from this area of the Ukraine?
What data base did you get Marcelina Piwowarszyn?

Sorry, I meant Marcela.

As per Ellis Island Records, Marcela PIWOWARCZYN (29 yrs old), Ruthenian/Ukrainian, arrived in NYC 9/22/1912 via Hamburg. She was from Dehowa, Austria and heading for niece's (Rozalia Krasnovska) place in Elizabethport NJ. Address there was 155 1st Street? She lists leaving her brother in law, Lawrow Kostyczyn, behind in Debowa. She was traveling w/Domka Pilatz, also from same village.

Searching Ellis Island Database in One Step

???
Please note that there is a Andrzej PIWOWARCZYK (43yrs old), arriving 7/14/1907. He was from Psary. He left spouse Justina behind in village. Later in 1911 there is a Masym (probably Maksym???) PIWOWARCZYK arriving @Ellis Island and heading for his brother's (Andrich???) in Elizabethport,NJ.

Dehowa did not have a church, so the Ruthenians from this village attended the church in
Psary. Films are available for Psary.

Double check w/LDS that this Psary is in Rohatyn District >Stanislawow (Ivano-Frankivsk), although I am certain we have the right Psary. TODAY this village is called Priozerne (zip code 77018).

If records above predate Marcela's birthyr, you may have to make an inquiry at Ivano-Frankivska Oblast Archives.

Hamburg was the exit port in Germany.

Marcela crossed over on the SS Kaiserin Auguste Victoria,
Hamburg-American Line.
