Hello.

I'm new to this forum. I thought i'd give it a try.
I have started a research about the origins of my family.
I was wondering if the name Lukawecki has origins from Russia, Poland or Ukraine. My great grand parents came from Snyatin in Galicia and emigrated to Canada around 1914. Ir seems that the Lukawecki in Canada are only my family. I have done seome research and find out there were three other families in USA. Is the name Lukawecki a common name in Ukraine ? I am trying to contact any possible family left in Ukraine. Has anyone from Snyatin have heard of a Lukawecki family ?
Is there any white pages that exist for Ukraine? There I could find about maybe other Lukawecki.

Lywood, I can not determine your roots but I would like to give you some information which could be helpful. When searching through wtitten/printed information have in mind that your family name and the town name could be referenced as follows (Polish version):

Unfortunately, I couldn't see the eight telephone numbers you were mentionning. Could you send them back to me.
Those internet sites you were talking seem interesting, unfortunately, i can't read ukrainian language. Was it talking about the city of Snyatin or they were talking about Lukawecki.

I can do a reasonable job with names but can't read Ukrainian either.

The internet sites contained search results for your name.

One of the sites mentions a Yaroslav Lukawecki born (28.03.1908), in the village of Snyatin.
Looks like he passed away 14.05.1993
He was an artist who was a professor at an artistic school before 1939.

There are Roman Catholic church records (1719-1900) for Snyatin for rent through your local FHL.
