Off the top, TODAY selo/village Zlynka looks to be in Malovyskivskij District of the Kirovohradska Oblast/Region (Eastern Ukraine).
In 1922, were they coming from Poland or Russia? If Russia, above would be your ancestral village. Please answer question and I will provide you more info and location on map. [Edited by Hannia on 5th May 2004 at 16:17] |

They were from Russia. They left during the Bolshevick(sp) revolution, and eventually made their way to England to board the Mauritania for New York. They came to the US with another family from Zlinka.
I have tried to google the town and locate maps that might help but no luck so far. Thanks for your quick reply. |

Apparently there is also a Zlynka (District Center-fair size town) in Russia proper, just east of Belarus, very close to border. This would be the Bryansk Region, an area affected by the fallout from Chernobyl.
The Zlynka in Ukraine is a village. How did you come to the conclusion that Grandparents were from what is Ukraine today? Would you permit me to examine their immigration records in Ellis Island? What are the surnames you are researching? |

Hi,
it seems there is no such place as Zlinka in Ukraine. But I found that there is small town Zlynka in Russia, in Briansk oblast (region), zip 08358. It is situated at the border of Russia with Byelorussia and Ukraine. Mapquest map for this town: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...bmit =Get+Map Also few links: http://goroda.novozybkov.ru/zlynka/ http://www.mojgorod.ru/brjansk_obl/zlynka/ http://www.admin.debryansk.ru/~press/Culture2.html http://www.bitmcnit.bryansk.ru/bryan...ict/zlynka.htm Possibly it is the town you are looking for.
