Yes, I found it after your post.
I was using calle.com index, and there was not such place as Zlinka or Zlynka in Ukraine. So looks like that index is not complete. Zlynka in Kirovograd oblast should be small town or “selysche miskoho typu”, because it has four zip codes: 26232-235. Zlynka in Briansk region, Russia is district center. I found in Internet that Zlynka in Briansk region used to have big Jewish community and there was Jewish ghetto during the war. Vitaliy |

Thank You for all of your input. I made the assumption that Zlynka was in the Ukraine because that was the only Zlynka I could find :-)
I talked to my father and he swears that his parents were from Minsk or Pinsk, however the Ellis Island record was Zlinka Russia. The names on the Mauritania manifest were Zelig, Fana, and Abram Wolfson. They arrived from Southampton in November 1922. This family research is all new to me so I am trying to get started. Not sure how far I can get since My fathers parents never talked about Russia to him. I can't blame them I guess since they had to leave with whatever they could carry. All I could get was my fathers parents owned a saw mill in Russia. Thanks Again. |
