In my quest to research the Russian Ukrainians who enlisted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force battalions, I have looked at many attestation papers.
Many NOK addresses are given as below:

Someplace Gubernia, Someplace2 Vesdoi, Someplace3 Volosti, Someplace4 Selo

Can anybody confirm that Gubernia means Governing Area, Volosti means Department, and Selo means Village?? I can't devine what Vesdoi might be

Update

I now have the names of over 3,000 men from eastern Europe who served with the Canadian Army in World War One.

If you are the relative of any such man, please reply here with some basic details.
