Dear Hannia, it has been suggested that you might be able to help me. I am looking for a family called Zolkwer who lived in Dmytrow, Krystynopol and Radziechow. I have not been very successful on the Jewish Gen site and wondered if you could advise me.
My grandfather was born in Ukraine and lived there till he was about 21 in 1890's when he moved to the UK. Thanks Sue |

Welcome Sue,
I did a quick run thru the usual, AGAD, etc. There is one Zolkwer (variant?) that shows up in Bialystock thru AGAD. ZOLKWER surname most likely originated out of town Zolkiewka, Lublin>RUSSIA/Poland>Poland today. Family probably migrated East into Sokal area>Eastern Galicia>Ukraine today and then moved further East??? Are you in contact w/Zolkwers in Uruguay? Pressed for time today. Please provide me w/as much verbal history you might have. I also need some given names to work with and appx dates for emigration. What documentation do you have? Have you talk to others in family re possible documentation for Zolkwer Ancestor? |

Family Zolkwer
Sue Shalom,
This is your cousin Adrienne in Israel. I am so glad that someone is trying to trace our roots. Well done. Hannia asks if we have been in contact with the Zolkwer's of Uruguy. I believe that this should be Argentina. I am in contact with the remains of the Zolkwer family in Israel who are from Argentina. I did not know about any in Uruguy however I will ask our cousin Deborah as soon as I can. There is another relation in Israel who is a Zolkwer but I have not met her yet as she only just came on Aliyah from Argentina. Do contact me as I would love to help with this from the Israeli/Argentiean side. Love Adrienne |
