my maternal grandparents were born in zernica wyzna, powit lisko, lemkiwczyna. they were greek catholic. i know the village no longer exists. is it possible to find church records? i have found some records dating ~1812-~1870 through LDS family history centre but these won't be of much use until i find out when my grandparents were born and who their parents were. where do i write to find these records? and what costs are involved?

St. Basil the Great Church in Zhernica Wyzna was destroyed in 1800. Unfortunately village Zhernica Wyzna>Lesko>Krosno itself was destroyed in 1947.

Filial churches:

Patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bereznycja Vyzhna (destroyed 1916 and served by church in Bereska).

St. Michael the Archangel in Zhernycja Nyzhna, which today is used for storage of fertilizers. The Polish government turned the village lands into a penal collective farm for criminals not considered dangerous. These are the LDS Film # 0765867 from 1812-1870.

Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker in Bereska was built in 1783. Bereska was a large village with more than 1500 inhabitants. During the 1944-1947 expulsions, more than 250 were killed including Rev. Oleksa Bilyk (1892-1944), his wife and son Mychalyo. The Poles killed Rev. Bilyk by driving a wooden wedge into his head. The church was burned to the ground in the 1980's.
