I have not been successful in locating Hewen, Brody.

Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village Historical Maps: Brody District, circa 1900.

Is this name Hewen based on some documentation?

Barbara,

I have asked Jerry Frank to help us w/this location. Hewen is a German surname??? There were German settlements, north of Brody at the turn of the century until appx 1937. Maybe this was the name of a German Manor in the Brody area??? This is Jerry's forte and hopefully he will be able to help us.

In 1895 Brody was not in Austria per se, it was in Eastern Galicia/Halychyna> administered by ethnic Poles for the AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE.

This article might help make it a little more clear.
