Lightbulb Welyczko

Julianne, is it possible we are distant cousins? My grandfather William Philip Welyczko, son of Simion Welyczko & Anna nee Rymar was from Rohatyn, in the town of Bolszowei, which of course might very well be Bilshivtsi and very close to where your family was from. My grandfather was born 1891, and immigrated to the USA in 1908.

Hi Carol, Hannia & Vitaliy:

Hannia & Vitaliy: This has been very enlightening - Thank you so much for all your expertise! I have written a very short letter to Lewko in Ukrainian and will mail it today!!

Carol: It is definately possible that we are distant cousins. My grandmother - Maria's parents are Michael & Anastasia - have you come across these names in your searches? Maybe Michael and Simion had the same parents? I will have to go through some documentation to find out who Michael's parents are...if you know who Simion's parents are - please advise. Maybe we'll be able to find some link!

Bil'shivtsi, Tustan, Slobodka

Hello Hannia:

I am wondering if you can provide me with information on the Village Administrators for Bil'shivtsi, Tustan and Slobodka. I would like to write to the Village Administrator in each village and find out if they can provide me with any information on surviving relatives.

Thanks for all your help!
Julianne

Hannia is on a distinguished road
Julianne,

Today Bilshivtsi> former name Bolszowce (Polsh) & Bolshovtsy (Russian)> is a fair size place. There are about 5 thousand+ people living there. I think writing the mayor of such a large village might very well be an exercise in futility???

I would try locating family in the smaller villages and asking them to help u w/locating family in Bilshivtsi.

Addresses for selos/villages, Tustaanne & Slodobka = SLOBODA, follow. Both are located in Halych Raion/District > Ivano-Frankivska Oblast/Region.
