Welcome.. what do you know of your Grandparents already? Did they leave Ukraine and come to US? A bit more info would help us assist you.

Hannia is on a distinguished road
To this day the Hutsuls are a proud, resourceful and passionately independent micro-ethnic group. There is a wonderful riotous quality about them. It is in their nature to laugh and sing and stomp their feet when dancing.
And they can carve magic from a piece of wood. Rarenick, this is your heritage.

KITSMAN (coordinates 48.26-25.46) was & still is a District Center Town in Chernivtsi Region of Ukraine> formerly frequently referred to as Northern Bukovina, the Land of Beech Trees. At the turn of the century this
area belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Kitsman was called KOTZMAN.

Bukovina, a picturesque area of the Ukraine, is often referred to as "the beech-land" for the name Bukovina stems from the Uk..

Immigrants frequently referred to their District Center as place of origin for geographical reference, because their own villages were small. Immediately around Kitsman there are about 13 different villages. Ruthenian/Hutsul farmers from these villages would bring their produce to market in Kitsman. The district itself contains many more villages.

Where did your Grandparents settle upon immigration? Were they married before immigrating? Have you made any archival inquiries yet? Were Grandparents Christian Orthodox?
