Searching for any Moczulski's/chrobaks from either Poland or Ukraine. My grandparents were born in towns that were in Poland , but might be in the Ukraine now. The towns are rodatycze and Czarnoroncy.m Mind you, this birth certificate is of 1884/1892. If anyone knowing the whereabouts of these towns, or the last names, would appreciate any info you might have.

Welcome to Ukraine.com I may have found one of your villages on the following site: http://www.jewishgen.com. Scroll down the page and click on the Shtetlseeker. Search by town, type in Rodatycze. The one I found is in the Lviv oblast in Ukraine. This area in the time of your grandparents birth was part of the Austria-Hungary Empire. My grandparents village is very close to yours. The other village came up in Russia, SE of Moscow.
Good luck. You will find alot of help here. You can also email me: kimmyjoe@hotmail.com Kim |

In 1884/1892 Poland did not exist as a geopolitical entity!!! Your ancestors were from EASTERN GALICIA> AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE. The area fell under Polish domain in 1919-1939, and then the Soviet Union after WW2 until 1991, when it became independent Ukraine.
I suspect you are looking for the hamlet Ch(z)arnokontse (coordinates 49.50 - 23.30) which is appx 3 miles NNW of Rodatychi. Today selo/Village Rodatychi> Horodotskij Raion/District (formerly called Horodek Jagiellonski)> Lvivska Obkast> Ukriane (UA) , 81521 Today selo/hamlet Chornokontsy's mailing address: c/o selo Tupachy poshta> Horodstkij Raion> Lvivska Oblast> UA, 81522 You can easily use Shtetlseeker to locate both. ____________________________________________________________________________________ The key to your ancestors' records will be their ethnicity and religion. There is an Agnieszka Chrobak listed on Ellis Island coming from Rodatychi. She lists leaving her brother, Stefan Kaspagyazak??? behind in village. She also lists her ethnicity as Polish, which means that you (if she is your family) should be looking for Roman Catholic Records. HalGal: Vital Records http://www.halgal.com/vitalrecords.html |

My parents used to have a friend, who probably still lives in Lviv till this day, and who’s last name is Chrobak. This is a very rear name like to me, I only came across with it ones and now for the second time in this thread. But I wouldn’t be able to say if he is your relative or to give you his address. Only if my parents still keep contact with him, then I’ll send you a private email.
Good luck in your research! |

There are about 200+ Chrobaks listed in the USA Telephone White Pages and another 25+ in Canadian White Pages. It is not an uncommon name. Think it means WORM?
