My dad's name is Walter Galat from Sosuliwka, RN Czortkiwskyj Ternopil. I cannot seem to find anything on the internet on Sosuliwka.

My dad found the house he was born in, his last living relatives which was good but none of his sister's children seem to know anything about their history or geneology except his father went to live in Canada to work and died there or even what happened to their brother Dmitro, his sister's name was Maria she has since died.

I cannot find anything on his mother Eudekia Wywsianek either.

But most importantly I cannot find if he was Eastern byzantine catholic or roman catholic.

I understand from what I have read before the communists the area was mostly eastern orthodox.

Can anyone help please!

Sosuliwka

Your Sosuliwka was actually spelt for documentation purposes during the Polish & Galician period as Sosolowka.
In the English version there are a number of variations as following: Sosolevka / Sosolyuvka / Soso?owka / Sosoluvka.
During the Polish period ( between WW1 & WW2 ) the village was in District / Powiat of Czortkow & in the Province / Wojewódstwo of Tarnopol.
During the Galician period the village was in the Admin. District & Gmina of Czortkow with the nearest Greek Catholic church in nearby Rosochacz ( 3 miles North ) with the nearest Roman Catholic church being in Jagielnica ( some 5 miles North / West ).
In relation to religion in the early 1900s, the immediate area was predominately Greek Catholic ( 63% ) & Roman Catholic ( 25% ) ... it was normal that if of Polish origin then they were Roman Catholics while the Locals / Ukrainians were of the Byzantine Rite, so assuming your ancestery were of local descent then they practiced the Byuzantine Rite.
If you were able to attain a copy of his original Baptism certificate then you would confirm his religionous practice....can offer you details of following up this if interested.
