Your thought of a thatched roof village is pretty correct. May not be too many motorbike rentals available as they tend to get stolen. Lots of dirt roads between the small villages too. Don't know about dangerous, I've gotten the impression that you need to carry some crisp US dollars in your pocket to buy your way out of certain situations. But for the most part, I think the people in the villages are probably very friendly and would even invite you in for a bite to eat. Plan to go myself in the next 2 years.

I figured a dirt bike might be a good way to get around. Easy on fuel, maintenance, any terrain. Do they still have those nasty 2 stroke engined cars? Sound like chain saws and spew smoke like I've never seen before? They looked like DeuxCheveaux.
Frankly, I worry about carrying crisp USD's, ( and I have to admit, that I'd feel naked without a sidearm, but...) but I'm still learning what the real deal is. I am very ignorant about life in Ukraine, even as an accidental tourist. Where are you from Ms. millgirl?

I live in Southwest Michigan. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area. Can you believe it, the Cubs are #1 in June!
Heard back from my friend, she says that her brother would probably be interested in doing some research work. You have to remember that the people over there do not make much money and are eager for ways to earn more. You would have to be very specific about what you are looking for. If you are interested I would prefer you e-mail me about it. |
