Recently I have been fortunate enough, with the help of a very dear man in Ukraine, to find the birth records of my grandfather and his brothers and sisters. I am now searching for descendants of these siblings. They were all born in the village Dub'e, Brody district of L'vivska Oblast, Ukraine. Their names were as follows:
Teodozia Kyrylchuk - born 1890 Marinia Kyrylchuk - born 1892 Vasyl Kyrylchuk - born 1894 Prokip Kyrylchuk - born 1896 Matrona Kyrylchuk - born 1897 I believe Marinia married a man with the surname "Yakimu" or something similar to that. If these names ring a bell with anyone, please let me know. Tracey Kyrylchuk |

Thank you Forest for your offer to stop in the village Dube. I am in contact with a "cousin" of mine who lives on a farm near the village Dube. Her name is Mariya Pagida. We write letters to each other with the help of a translator. She has a sister that lives not far from her but she does not know of any other family that live in the area. She is the granddaughter of Vasyl Kyrylchuk (my grandfather's brother). The only other male in the family was Prokip. The rest were women and they would have married so any of their family living there today would not be known by Kyrylchuk.
I wonder if you could do something for me while you are visiting Brody? The RAHS office has the birth records of my grandfather and all of his siblings but for me to get copies of these records I must write a letter to the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada to make the request. Then they send the request to the Registrar's office in L'viv and then on to Brody and so on. It is a long drawnout process. My translator friend lives in a village in southern Ukraine. He phoned the RAHS office in Brody and "befriended" the supervisor there. We sent her a gift and she looked up the records for him and gave him the information to pass along to me. I would like to get copies of these documents. If you are going to the RAHS office in Brody I could have my friend call her and have the records ready for you to pick up. Then when you get back from your trip you could mail them to me. I would send my friend the money for the copies and he could forward it to the office so that everything would be paid for in advance. I may have to tell her that you are related to me though or she may not want to give you the records. What do you think of my idea? Is this possible? Also, if you are travelling near Dube and happen to take any pictures of the castle or statue or other interesting sights I would love to see them. I am trying to convince my husband to take a trip to Dube to meet my cousin and try and find other family living there. Thank you for your reply to my post. It is nice to talk to people who have been there and know the area. |
