My paternal grandfather was born in the town of Druzhkopol in Volhynia in the district of Horochow.
I have unsuccessful in locating Jewish vital records between 1862--1910.The only source I found was the 1858 Census from the Zhitomir archives, which did have my surname in Druzhkopol. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. |

Gary,
According to Bohdan, during Galician period Druzhkopol was in old Admin. District of SOKAL in Gmina of Sokal. The key is that the Kehila for Druzhkopol (Rabbi kept records there) was in Tartakow. The distance between Tartakow and Druzhkopol was about 14 1/2 miles. _________________________________________________________________________ For TARTAKOW Records>Sokal District>Lwowskie Wojiwodstwo Central Archives of Historical Records (AGAD) in Warsaw- Birth Records 1858-1900, 1932, 1935 Death Records 1877-1901, 1906, 1933-1937 Marriage Records 1845-1875, 1917-1921, 1932, 1934 Urzad Stanee Cywilnego w.m. Gary & Hania Cant locate my reply posting, but if the case ( which it seems to be ) I need to apoligise that I somehow offered wrong details. Druzhkopol ( also known as Zhuravniki ) is one of those locations on the border of Galicia & Volyn. More than likely the nearest Jewish Kehilas were either in the towns of Radekhiv or Horokhiv, considering the village is approximately half way between both. Apoliges for any inconvenience, sometimes unfortunately this can happen. Bohdan

Druzhkopol/Zhuravniki
I just wanted to share that I had the pleasure of visiting my ancestral village of Druzhkopol(present day Zhuravniki)in December.
I am currently involved in a cemetery restoration project of the Jewish cemetery of the former Druzhkopol. I still have had no luck in locating any additional vital records. |

Hello Gary,
Was there anyone in the village who was of help to you? What is involved in a cemetery restoration project? I know several people, descendants of Eastern Ukrainian Jews, who may be interested in doing same. |
