Hi
I am making some enquireies for my step father. His name is Michael Basoff with parents Vladimer Basoff a writer and mother Agripona Leesencov. They were from Wolgi in Ukraine. Does any one know where Wolgi is? He said he lived on the Volga river? During the war they were kept on the farm of an SS Officer He was a Russian/Ukraine refugee after WW2 and he thinks hecame to Sydney Australia on the SSGeneral Stewart between 1945-1948 departed Italy He was only a young boy but has vivid memories! IF anyone can help me with the Basoff family or where Wolgi is or anything on Vladimer the writer I would be very greatful ![]() With Thanks Anita Green Australia |

Wolgi can be transliterated (sounds like) to a variety of places.
Start with Father's immigration records. The Natl Australian Archives provides these records free of charge. They are also available online. There is a lot of personal detail in these records and you might find some clues to exact location there. National Archives of Australia - The Collection - Family History - Immigrants http://www.naa.gov.au/The_Collection...mmigrants.html PS> I am pressed for time now, but next week will provide you w/other links which might help you in your search. Did a quick look for Vladymir Basoff and found nothing, but did find others of the Basoff clan, that do have a proclivity towards writing. Will post more next week. |
