Question

Hello!
I search someone over the internet from the Ukraine, her name is Bodzian and Gryszczyszyn (polish language).
I know they live in KojdaЯce (polish language). After the wedding they live in Romanove Selo.
This is the Bodzian▓s family:
Eliasz Bodzian √ father, Anastazja Gryszczyszyn √ mother
Kids:
Michail √ born in 1908 (probable death in Uruguay)
Maria √ born in 1911 (she was death in Poland in Paczkow)
Rozalia √ born in 1914 (she was death in Zbaraz near the Tarnopil in Ukraine)
Katarina √ born in 1920 (she was death in Poland in Scinawa)
Josefa (my grandmother) √ born in 1922 (now she live in Poland).
If anyone knows some informations on this theme, please write to me. Thank you.

Have you located these villages that you are referring to???

In the time frame you are researching, the area your ancestors were from was called the Kingdom of Galicia/Halychyna>under the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Kingdom of Poland was actually a very small area around Krakow. Technically Poland did not exist as a nation for about 126 years prior to the end of World War I.

<The term Galicia was pressed into service by the Austrians to denote the lands taken from Poland during the 3 partitions 1775, 93 and 95. The Poles call this area Malopolska or Little Poland (actually it originally stood for Junior Poland). The Eastern part was known as the Rus' or Ruthenian Palatinate. The name Galicia was derived from Rusyn/Ukrainian name Halychina. This is the area that is roughly the Eastern Malopolska that was a Rus' principality in roughly 1200-1400 AD (Halychina-Wolyn'). The name of the principality is in turn derived from the name of its capital city -- Halych.>

Beside a knowledge of Area History, one of the other keys to your search is religion. Were your ancestors Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic or Christian Orthodox?

You mentioned several villages. Using links below you need to ascertain where these villages are located NOW. You will also need to ascertain Raion/District and Oblast/Region in order to be able to do any archival research.

Using Tarnopil as a clue, I did a 30 miles radial DISTANCE SEARCH around Tarnopil and found
Kajdance - KIDANTSY?
Romanove Selo/Village - ROMANIVKA?
Scinawa - SINYAVA?

First establish latitude & longitude for Tarnopil, then go back to original page and scroll to bottom to do DISTANCE SEARCH. This link is probably one of the best available to do village/town searches in Eastern Europe. Soundex for transliteration built into search.

From late 18th century to 1919 Romanowe Siolo was hamlet size. Zbaraz was both the POWIAT/county-administrative
district and the GMINA/judicial-tax district. The filial Greek Catholic Church was in Kujdance & the filial Roman Catholic
Church was in Haluszcynce. Tarnipol was the wojiwodstwo/region > Galicia = Halyczyna Province, administered
by ethnic Poles for the AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE. From 1919-1938 this region was under Reconstituted Poland's domain. Technically Poland had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125 yrs. Post WW2 this region became a part
of SSR Ukraine, under Soviet control until 1991, when Ukraine became independent.

Bodzian = Бодзян in Ukrainian. The surname can be found in cities like Lviv and Ternopil and in several villages
in the Ternopilska oblast. Consider writing the Village Administration of your ancestral village and making an inquiry
re any surviving relatives still residing in the village. Today there are 887 people still living in Romanove Siolo =
Романове Село in Ukrainian
. Communicating in Ukrainian is ideal.
