Hi does anyone know anything about the Balan surname, my grandparents came from Ukraine and I would like more info on its origin or anything. Thanks

Where did your Grandparents immigrate and approximately when? Where did they settle?
What were the given names? What religion did they practice?

What oral history do you have and/or any documentation if any?

Did a quick look c. turn of 19th century.

Balan's coming from Carpathian area, some from Bukowina.

Some Balan's coming from Eastern Ukraine - mostly Jewish.
