I am puzzled by <born near polish border towns>.
I have found two possibilities using Shtetlseeker. JewishGen ShtetlSeeker - Town Search http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm PODOROZHNA (still exists today @ 49.48 - 28.16 on current map) 108.8 miles WSW of Kiev http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/ia_f...8w1gu67_1ra0gz,bb6%7c_%3d%3a%28_%3dw1gu67_1ra0gz%28l%241w-u.wf7%3bxcx5sf7.grfe%7cs The other PODOROZHNA is near Stryj , but there is no Berdichev in area. There is a Bolichev. As you will see by the map below, it is closer to Poland. http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/ia_f...8w1n5ab_1w70gz,bb6%7c_%3d%3a%28_%3dw1n5ab_1w70gz%28l%241w-u.wf7%3bxcx5sf7.grfe%7cs You state that Maria was displaced in 30's/40's. By whom? Maybe that will give us a clue to location. What was Maria's religion? |

According to Tanja's historical map:
Berdychiv/Berdichev (Zhytomyr Destrict)was not far from Polish border in the period 1921- December 1939. Write the village mayor and inquire re family. VINNYTSKA Oblast KHMILNYTSKYI Raion PODOROZHNIA Holowa Sela UA 22024 |
