Scroll to bottom of page and view nearby villages.

Another gd link for nearby town/village location is Shtetlseeker. First find latitude and longitude. Notate. Using your browser for moving back to original page, scroll down to very bottom CLICK DISTANCE and do search for nearby towns/villages.

Are you familiar with Brama.com? IMO probably one of the best sites for all things Ukrainian
in Diaspora link. Your father might enjoy reading the up to date news (in Ukrainian) from Ivano-Frankivsk. Don't forget to bookmark/make favorite.

BRAMA - Gateway Ukraine
http://brama.com/

Using Google Search will bring up everything available on Snyatyn/Sniatyn Ukraine and Oleskiv Ukraine. Did a quick look. See no photos, however lots of articles re Sniatyn/Snyatin.

Sorry William,

There are times I can be real thick. Your father is from BUKOVINA...gorgeous countryside. There's a great deal available about that area on the net.

If he is interested in finding out about surviving relatives, he can easily write a letter to the village mayor with his inquiry. Oleshkiv is a small village and the mayor would know if there are any Temoschtschuk's still in the village. If there are, he can pass along your father's letter.
Make sure to include an IRC (Intl Response Coupon) in the letter. These can be purchased at your local post office and will expedite a speedy response. The letter should include both parents' names (including his mother's maiden name) and any patronymics (given names of his grandparents). Ideally the letter should be written in Ukrainian, but using English or German will work, except it will slow the response time down some.

ADDRESS for Oleshkiv mayor:

UKRAINA
Chernivetska Oblast
Novoselytskij Raion
selo Oleshkiv
Holowa Sela

On very bottom left or right of envelope, print UKRAINE clearly...for the benefit of your own postal authorities.

Then all your father has to do is sit and wait. Hopefully he will get the response he wants.

Use Google Search link I sent in previous message for more on BUKOVINA.
