Indexing of 2 Russian Orthodox cemeteries in New York state

Hello all,

I have completed two major cemetery projects for Find A Grave- Novo Diveevo Russian Orthodox Cemetery (considered the largest Russian Orthodox cemetery outside of Russia) and Holy Trinity Orthodox Monastery.

These two cemeteries have many people who came from Ukraine.

Here is my guide on using the Find the Grave database for these cemeteries.

It was quite a journey to complete the photography of Novo Diveevo, the cemetery of my maternal grandparents, a maternal grand uncle, my father and his half-sister.

Here's my post on that journey- http://lostrussianfamily.wordpress.c...ents-cemetery/

Vera and I have had several discussions re some of the sites she recommends.

If your computer is not well protected, I would not risk going on the Russian sites.

That is your only response after the sweat and hard work I've done for documenting the former USSR immigrants who came to America? If you actually clicked on the links in my posts, they are all American sites. There isn't any concerns over malware from Find A Grave. Your response is a true disappointment, once again.

P.S. I keep my computer safe by using Malwarebytes and still use Russian websites. I wouldn't recommend the Russian websites if you are scared of finding family. I have lost track of the number of cousins I have found on Russian websites. Malware 0.

Vera,

You have no reason to get sarcastic.

Obviously you are not familiar w/the latest Russian VPNFilter malware, which has infected more than half a million home routers in the last several months.

Currently the only protection is to reboot and change the router password every three months.

The Kremlin employs some very clever hackers.

Your computer is highly likely not even able to recognize this malware.

Todate very little is known about it.

I don't get why you are so mean to me. You can't even acknowledge the project I just completed for Find A Grave. I don't get you. Sorry for the people affected by the malware but that is not the subject of this thread.

Burn my computer once, shame on you. Burn my computer twice, shame on me.

If you think passing on this advice to others is mean to you, there is nothing I can do about that.

My exchange w/you ends here.

Sadly, the theme of this thread has not been addressed by you once. That's my problem with you. I am not responsible for anyone's computer problems, including yours. If you don't protect your computer properly, that's your fault. I have been using Russian websites for many years without problems. I don't have a fancy nor expensive computer. I protect my computer properly so doing research on Ukrainian and Russian websites hasn't been a problem.
