primyk is on a distinguished road
Wow, thanks so much Hannia, now I know the original form is Semianiv. Part of me wondered if Semianow could have been Polish in origin, as there were indeed a lot of ethnic Poles in Bohorodchany before World War II, but now I see that was just their way of spelling Semianiv in Latin for the metrical books. I will keep nomer.org in my back pocket as a reference.

Does your surname database also include etymologies? I love to read about the origin of names. Either way, please let me know when you dig it up

Hannia will become famous soon enough
As Paul will tell you, I lose and find and lose files, all the time.

As soon as I locate it, I will notify you. The list is straightforward, ALL Ukrainian surnames and their variants.

Там де ╓ Укра╖нц╕, там ╓ Укра╖на!

Hannia - Hania - Mighthelp

Correct Hannia....

Another but related problem. Like in Latin or Polish, the spelling of Ukrainian names also vary according to their 'location' in the sentence, and plurals, and gender, and grammar, etc ('declination'). I have tried this with my own surnames of interest. One does make progress by searching all the different ways of spelling the same surname.

I am keeping a table with these different spellings and on occasions I find something new! Here is my table, sorry for the possible/probable mistakes in it:

Possible spellings for Czyżski (Chizhsky; Chyzhskyy; Chyzhskij; Cyzhskij, Chizhskih, Čižs′kij):
Чижский (Russian)
Чижские (Russian)
Яков Чижский (Jakov-Chizhskij, Russian)
Чижская (Chijskaya; Russian)
Ч╕жск╕й (Ukrainian)
Чижський (Ukrainian)
Чижська (Ukrainian)
Чижска (Ukrainian)
Чижського (Ukrainian)
Чижевський (Ukrainian; Chizhevsky)

Tarnogórski (Tarnogurskiy)
Тарногурский (Russian)
Тарногурський (Ukrainian)
Тарнагурск╕ (Belarus)
Тарногурского (Russian)
Tarnogursky Tarnogurskiy Tarnogorski Tarnogurskie
Тарногурский Tarnogurskiy Tarnogorski Тарногурские

additions to this list are most welcome.
