My grandfather had born at Ternopil ( Tarnopil ), near Lviv, Ukraine.
I'm looking for my relatives over there.

Tarnopil/Ternopil is not only the city/region capital center, but also the name of the region itself. It is in Western Ukraine.

Immigrants frequently referred to their region or district center as place of origin for geographical orientation. Was Father from Ternopil the large city, or was he from a village in the district.

I see many Chalupas listed on Ellis Island. When did Father immigrate and where did he settle upon immigration.
