BESZ surname and family
Hello to all,
My name is Bartek Besz and I am looking for all information about BESZ surname and family. I live in Poland. From information I already have I know that my grandfather and his father lived in Bar. It is a small village near to Doliniany and Rodatycze, both in close area to Lvov. It is hard to say which place was main of Besz but all this area can be indicated as a birthplace of BESZs. My grandfather was Jan Besz and his father - Piotr Besz. They both came to Poland in May 1945. Here my father was born and that is the reason why I am here. Do you know BESZ surname at all? Do you know people with this surname who still lives in mentioned area? Or maybe you know where else BESZ surname exists? Let me know if you know something more. Thanks a lot. Bartek from Poland |

Bartek, I found one birth record for a Wilhelm Oelke, whose father was Christian Oelke and whose mother Wilhelmina Besz. That one birth was in 1868, in Paris, Bessarabia. So, yes, there were people by that name. I found the record in the St. Petersburg files available at Odessa Digital Library, which focuses on Germans. Also, a quick search on Ancestry.com shows there were Besz families who immigrated to America from Poland and Hungary, as well as from Galicia--and many other European countries.
