Researching Pacewicz from Łanowce

Dear Members, I live in Australia and am researching the history of my Polish family in WW2. My grandfather Jan s Jozeph Pacewicz was born in 1895 in Łanowce in the Eastern borderlands (I believe now Lanivsti in Ukraine). At the time of Soviet invasion he was a policeman in Ruwne. He was imprisoned, murdered at Katyn and the rest of the family deported to Siberia. We know absolutely nothing of this Pacewicz side of the family. Does anyone know of any ancestory links of Pacewicz in this part of the country and how feasible it is to research the genealogy from Lanowce? With many thanks, Anna

Hi Anna,
is it him? (you can update info about him),
Katedra Polowa Wojska Polskiego w Warszawie

How is your Polish?
there is a page about Lanowce
STRONY O WO£YNIU - przedwojenny Wo³yñ
Probably you need to write to Archiva's in Warszawa for any birth certificate,
also do you know anything more about your ancestors and him?. Was he also in WWI or Legiony?
I live in Perth and I dig out a lot of info over internet - sometime it takes time, but is woth it.
All the best
Barbara

Thank you

Dear Barbara, thanks so much for your reply, Yes this is him! He is also on the Karta list of those executed at Katyn although I think he is one of the "missing Poles" - most likely at the Bykivnia mass grave site in Ukraine. Thank you for the link on Lanowce as well. I am sending off lots of enquiries and we are also going to Poland in June, possibly Ukraine as well (I live in Sydney, I see you are Perth). Yes I think it will be a long road but I am determined to find some answers. Thank you so much, Anna
