Berkosha in Prutivka near Sniatyn

I've found 5 or 6 of my relatives from Prutivka (called Karlow a hundred years ago) who came to Canada in the early 19 teens (Ivan/John, from A/H army to internment camp in Ontario)and around 1920 (Paraska, Mike, William). Some settled here in the Niagara area and one went to Alberta (Peter). Any Berkoshas left in Prutivka, after floods of 2008? I'm sending for the Greek Orthodox Church records on microfilm from FamilySearch, and hoping for further help here.
Thanks
Ron

Hi Sylvie

I've wriiten a letter (in Ukranian) to send to Prutivka - but who do I send it to? Are there street addresses or just to the post office that you supplied?

Thanks

Prutivka (ðÒÕÔ¦×ËÁ) has a population of only 1500, and therefore you do not need the name of the street and house number on the envelope. Besides, the postmaster knows all of the folks in his village, and quite often will personally deliver the letter to the house. Once when I was at my cousins' visiting, the postmaster delivered my letter to the house.... I got there before my letter. - Sure hope you receive a reply!

Sorry .... I never answered your question fully. Who do you want to send it to? I did type in the English version of the names. It is your pick .... there are quite a few older men listed.

If you view the Greek Orthodox Church records as you said you were going to do, you would perhaps know which of the listed men are related to you. But then of course, they may all be related in one way or another.

Personally, I think that you should be checking the 1785-1913 (Ukrainian) Greek Catholic church films for Prutivka. (Later Karłów, now Prutivka).

Austria, Galizien, Karłów (Śniatyn) - Church records
Poland, Stanisław (Karłów (Śniatyn) - Church records
õËÒÁ§ÎÁ, ¶×ÁÎÏ-æÒÁÎ˦×ÓØË, óÎÑÔÉÎ, ðÒÕÔ¦×ËÁ - íÅÔÒÉÞΦ ËÎÉÇÉ
Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivs′k, Sniatyn, Prutivka - Church records

Thanks Again!

I've already ordered the microfilms and they are being sent to to the local FH centre.
