Need help with locations please

I'm very new to this so please bare with me.

My grandfather and grandmother immigrated to Canada seperately. My grandfather in 1926 and my grandmother and thier first three children in 1930. My grandfather wrote a letter shortly before he passed. This letter has been translated so I have no possibility of knowing whether the trnslation of the names of towns was correct. I can find no such locations existing.According to this letter, my grandfather was born in village of Debecaci, county of Kolomia, located in West Ukraine Middle Class. My grandmother was born in Debeslawce, Kolomjya, Poland. Can anyone help with these locations?

The village Debeslawce in Kolomyja is now named Debeslavtsi in Ivano-Frankivsk.
Search on Debeslavtsi in Google maps and you will see it,
I came up with plenty of interesting hits on Debeslawce in Google including some on geneology / ancestry boards. Try searching on both names.

I'm guessing that Kolomia is the same as Kolomyja (note you transposed the y and j) and possibly Debecace is Debeslawce too since I could not find Debacace.

I did some more searching and could find nothing on your gr fathers village.

There is the possibility that these two villages are the same !!

Hello vampporcupine!

If you are seeking information on your grandparents and if they were naturalized in Canada, try searching for them at
Search by Name (1915-1936) - Canadian Naturalization 1915-1951 - Library and Archives Canada.

US naturalization records have been very helpful for my research.
