Hi Hannia
Have tried twice now to post some information on this forum and it kept saying I was not logged in and I couldn't post something. Am I doing somehting fundamentally wrong? Anna |

Hi Hannia and other members of the forum
Maybe its my computer or I just got lucky, but the previous thread just got posted. Can someone tell me the approx time response from Bad Arolsen as I sent them an email in Feb and then again in Sept of this year. Also can someone tell me if my maiden name of Tychyj which means "quiet" is a comon name in Ukraine. Also posted a message to someone called dserianni in August 2011 when they talked about a surname Tyushka are the 2 names related! Look forward to someone's response. Kind regards Anna |

Hello Anna!
Hannia has not responded on this forum in awhile. Hopefully, someone else can help you. Did you send a tracing request to Bad Aroslen or e-mails? My tracing request was successful after 2 years and 2 weeks. ITS-Bad Aroslen has responded to my e-mails within a few weeks. Maybe your e-mails got lost or they are overwhelmed right now. I think the post about Tyushka was in reference to a town, not surname. I looked on vdgru.com, a popular Russian genealogy website. There is this listing: SILENT ALEXANDER Nikiforovich QUIET ALEXANDER Nikiforovich Seeking relatives. Of Art. Chaplino, Dnipropetrovsk region. Place of birth of father and grandfather. The person who posted the information has an e-mail address of mailto:assa at karelia.ru. The posting is 11 years old so I don't know if the e-mail address is current. You should register and post your information at ÒÈÕÈÉ :: Ïåðñîíàëüíûé ñïèñîê. I can help you post information if you don't know Russian. Did your grandfather immigrate to the USA or Canada? The website is open to anyone speaking Russian who has relatives or ancestors from the former USSR, which once included the area now known as Ukraine. I have found relatives three times on this website. My biggest find in relatives was in Kiev, Ukraine.

Vera, perhaps you could assist me? My grandfather's sister lived in or near Orenbergh (I may have the incorrect spelling - my research is buried right now with reno's going on in our house). She was from Ukraine (or back then what was Austria) and after she was married she moved there. I have a letter from her dated approx 1928. She would no longer be alive but I would like to find her family. In her letter she makes reference to her children. I have no idea how many she had or if they were boys or girls etc. If I get her married name would you be able to assist me in looking at the website?

Hi Sandra,
I can look at the surname listing for her maiden and married name. Use Type Russian letters - online Russian keyboard to type her full names in Russian and copy the text this forum. Vera Find Lost Russian & Ukrainian Family |
