I am searching for my relatives in Poland/Ukraine by the names of Szulak and Malinski. My sister had contact with them about 15 years ago. I know there are still living cousins there. My parents immigrated to Canada in 1930 from Buchach, Ternopil, Trosciance. These are the names on my birth certificate in Latin. Unfortunately I cannot read Ukrainian,, and only some Polish.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying that the name of the village is Trosciance? If you are, there is no village by that name in the Buchach district. There is a village Trostianets (Ukr.); Trostianec (Pol.); Тростянець (Cyrillic) in the Berezhany district. Would that be it? There are Shuliak (Ukr.); Szuliak (Pol.); Шуляк (Cyrillic) families there. In the neighbouring villages Rybniki (Рибники) and Saranchuki (Саранчуки), there are Malinskyi (Малинський) families. No Malinskyi in Trostianets.

Hi Stefka,

There're many villages with the name of Trostianets in Ukraine. About 25. 2 of them are in Ternopil Province.
I do not know any Trostianets which used to be or is in Buchach region of Ternopil province. Or do you mean that the relatives lived in every city/town? Maybe I could find it out if you provided the copies of the documents you have. You can post them here or send at dorosh.andriy@yahoo.com
