Looking for inforamtion on Strekebenko,Kalapaj & Parkulo
I am currently researching my family tree. My Father's side is Ausrtian/Ukranian/Poish. My father's last name was Parkulo but this is not the original spelling & my Grandfather & his family came from what I have been told is Jesapol(sic) Poland. His Uncle Mikolin Strekebenko( I believe this is the original correct spelling) came from Skala,Austria or possibly Kromonoa,Austria. My Grandmother's Parents & 2 olders siblings immigrated also immigrated from Skala Austria and their family name was Kalapaj( I have located my Great-Grandmother and the 2 children's immigration records on the Ellis Island website)..
I have my Great Uncles(Strekebenko) papers but I not sure if they are travel records or miilitary records as they are in Austrian? and I having dufficulty translating. I am llooking for any information on these families I can find especially originally spelling of my maiden name Parkulo and any relatives still in the old country(ies). The village of Skala (now Skala-Podilska) is in Borschiv district Ternopil region. This really lived family Kolupaj (not Kalapaj). It is known that in Skala in the U.S. in 1909 emigrated: Kolupaj Michalina (30 years), Kolupaj Michael (4) and Kolupaj Maria (2).
There are books for metric Skala: Borschiv Registry Office: Greek Catholic: Birth 1914-1944, Marriage 1913-1944,. Roman Catholic: Marriage 1890-1943, Death 1841-1944. Ternopil archive: Greek Catholic: Birth 1847-1923, Marriage 1846-1919, Death 1871-1913. Lviv archive: Roman Catholic: birth, marriage and death for years 1816-1865 Warsaw archive: Jewish: Birth 187-1882, 1886-1892, Death 1839-1892. Metric books of the Ternopil Archives may have in the LDS. Surname Strekebenko in Skala there. Jesapol - perhaps Yezupil (Jezupol). Yezupil - a village in Tysmenytsia district Ivano-Frankivsk region. In Soviet time it was renamed in Zhovten. Metric books Yezupil in Ivano-Frankivsk archive available. In Lviv archive is a Greek Catholic parish register Yezupil for 1835-1865 and Roman Catholic for 1816-1865. Metric books later period probably are in Tysmenytsia Registry Office Sincerely Igor Voronchak (voronchak@ukr.net) |
