cemetery plots

I am wondering whether cemetery plots stay to one person forever in Ukraine and Russia. In Germany and Poland, after so many years the plot is given to another person. I am curious whether I will find cemetery stones of my relatives or they will be replaced by another person. Thanks in advance.

According to the rules, the headstone can be only removed iif the cemetery is closed down, but in fact everything is possible in this country where no laws are complied with.

I believe it can really be hit and miss. I know of one village where the gravesite is looked after. Another gravesite totally overgrown of plants and trees, most headstones destroyed. I hope I can find headstones of family when I go but it really will be a hit and miss. One family member who was visiting an ancestral village sevearl years ago said the gravesite was destroyed by war, never to be repaired etc.

Those headtones and cemeteries that were not destroyed and looted during numerous wars and conflicts, and have survived must be preserved today- theoretically..
