Borki Male, near Touste, Koziebroda ancestors

Hello!
I am searching for R.C. records probably from the Church in Touste (under Skalat administrative district) which include birth records of Koziebroda grandmother and great aunts born in 1890's, and marriage and death records of their parents, (married in the 1880's or 1890-ish) and deaths after 1914 I think. I will go through the Ukrainian consulate and ask for the antheka as that is very good road to take. Thank you Hannia! Would the names Koziebroda, Zabizewski, Berezowski, Berezanski be familiar to anyone from that region (Skalat, Grzymalow, Touste, etc)? Thank you. Marcia

From late 18th century to 1918 wies/village Borki Male was a Ruthenian/Ukrainian village w/its own GC Church. The filial RC church and the Jewish Kahal were both in Touste. Skalat was the powiat (adm district-county) and Grzymalow was the gmina (judicial-tax district). Tarnapolskie wojiwodstwo/region > Galicia Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. During the Interwar Period (1919-1938) this region came under Reconstituted Poland's domain. Technically Poland had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125+ yrs. During this time frame the village was assigned to the Husyatyn district. Post WW2 the Husyatyn district remained and became a part of SSR Ukraine, under Soviet domain until 1991, when Ukraine became independent.

TODAY selo/village Mali Birky (Мал╕ Б╕рки), which was founded in 1564 on the Tayna River still exists w/a population of 386 people. (The only church in the selo is GC, Church of the Blessed Mother of God, built in 1864 in stone.) Hysyantynskij (Husyatyn) raion/district > Ternopilska (Ternopil) oblast/region> Ukraine, latest zip code = 48234.

After World War II, upon Soviet annexation to the Ukrainian SSR, most Poles were relocated to Poland.
There is an org in Poland, where you can make inquiry as to where your Polish families were resettled.

Koziebroda = Коз╕брода (none show up in Husyatyn district)

Коз╕брода Б.К.

Berezowski = Берез╕вський (these are in Zboriv district)

Берез╕вський А.А. Збор╕вський район, Б╕логолови 33399
Берез╕вський В.С. Збор╕вський район, Зал╕зц╕, М╕цкевича 31463
Берез╕вський М.З. Збор╕вський район, Збор╕в, Миру 22735

PS> Don't have time to provide org to do search for surviving families resettled to Poland right now. Will try to get back later or tomorrow.

Koziebroda from Borki Male

Dear Hannia,
Thank you for your reply and information. I have exhausted the LDS microfilms for these years of interest for Grzymalow and Touste but I am planning to look again at the R.C. Church records in Grzymalow in case I missed something. Michael Koziebroda, my great-grandfather, was born in Podlesie-Grzymalow in maybe 1853 and married his 2nd wife Alexsandra Zabizewska in the 1880's or later and they lived in Borki Male for some period (he was a miller) and all their daughters except one, emigrated to the U.S. between 1911 and 1914.
So, if records are not available, then I was thinking of your advice to contact the Archives in Lviv and Ternopil, and request at least the birth records of the daughters since I have those years of births from records in the U.S. The harder information to find is the marriage record and death records of the great-grandparents, since I don't know what years (or possibly the towns) these events happened. I am also searching for birth record of Alexandra Zabizewska Koziebroda, Michael's wife, my great-grandmother.
Thank you again for your help. I agree with what the other forum writers write, that you inspire researchers not to give up. Marcia

Marcia,

You are a smart cookie. Go thru the RC in Grzymalow & Touste records again.

He had a business. There is a business directory for Galicia for this time frame.

So I have to get you links for the business directory and to the org that can help you find where your extended family was resettled in Poland.

Koziebroda from Borki Male

Dear Hannia,
In re to a Galician business directory, is it possible that a "miller" would be listed if he was only "leasing" the mill and not owning it back in the early 1900's? I requested the 1913 Galician business directory microfilm for viewing through a local library but I am doubtful it would list my great grandfather's occupation. Since I mentioned I have read through all pertinent LDS microfilms and found no more info, then in your opinion, what should my next step be? Contacting the Archives in Lviv and Ternopil? Please let me know and I thank you. Marcia
