From late 18th century to 1918 wies/village Kimirz was hamlet size, with its filial Roman Catholic Church and Jewish Kahal in Swirz and its filial Greek Catholic Church in Uszkowice. Przemyslany was both the POWIAT (administrative district-county) and its GMINA (judicial-tax district) > Lemberg/Lwow region > Galicia/Halyczyna Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. During the Interwar Period the region came under Reconstituted Poland's domain and region was changed to Tarnopil. (Technically Poland had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125+ yrs.) Post WW2 it became a part of the SSR Ukraine, under Soviet domain and the region was changed back to Lvov region. It remained under Soviet domain until 1991, when Ukraine became independent.

Today village Kimirz is called selo Kymyr (село Кимир in Ukrainian). It is still hamlet size w/current population of 402 and is part of the Ushkovychi village cluster, sharing the village administration, post ofc ( zip code 81240) and GC Church.

LDS has filmed both GC and RC Records for dates up to 1905. What religion did Knapp Family practice?

Knapp surname strikes me as German. There was a Kimierz Kolonia (German settlement) attached to this village.

If so, most Galizien Germans were evacuated by 1938. EWZ Records are invaluable to anyone whose family was evacuated. In order to qualify for evacuation, one had to provide a list of several generations of German heritage, including origin of family in Germany.

Tekla Knapp lived in Kymyr, owned a farm, died around 1926-1927. wife of Anthony Knapp, he died before Tekla. Daughter Eudokia Knapp came to Canada at time of Teklas death. Eudokia was born 1902 in Kymyr we think. we are looking to find where Anthony and Tekla are buried and where the property was located.
