Darcie,

Grandmother Evdokhia (nick could have been Ewa or Yewka) Galara was born in Nienowice, today a village in SE Poland,
10 minutes from the Ukrainian border.

From late 18th century to 1918 wies/village Nienowice was predominantly a Ruthenian/Ukrainian village w/its own Greek Catholic Church. Filial Roman Catholic Church was in Michalowka. Jaroslaw was the powiat (administrative district-county) and Radymno was the gmina (judicial-tax district) > Galicia/Halyczyna Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE. During the Interwar Period in 1918 it became apart of Reconstituted Poland which technically had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125 yrs. TODAY most Ukrainians are gone. Some were resettled in SSR Ukraine to places like Sasiv in Ternopil region and some were resettled in Poland to places once occupied by colonial Germans before WW2. Today Nienowice is a Polish village > Jaroslaw powist > Radymno gmina > Podkarpackie wojiwodstwo/region > SE POLAND.

I vaguely remember that you also had family in Zolochiv and Javoriv??? These districts abut Poland.

Eudoxia (Evdokhia) was baptised and confirmed February (exact date not clear) 1906 by parish priest Joannes (Ivan) Nadlowicz.

Father was Theodore ( may have been called Fedor or Fedko by family) Galara, farmer, son of Demetrie (Dmytro) Galara & Katheryna Zailo, born in the same place.

Mother was Euphresina, daughter of Stefan Kolodij & Anna Ozibko, born farmers in Nienowice.

Godparents were Daniel (Danylo) Kohut & Paraskeva (Paraska), wife of Gregor Lipinski, farmer.

Ewa was born at home and the midwife helping with birth was Marya Ozibko.

PS> ( ) are my comments - not included in document. Second document is Eligibility Certificate, probably for Academics/School. Can't read it well enough to tell you for sure.

My reading of the second document (to be double-checked by someone else):

Commune of Nienowice, District/Shire of Jaroslaw, Region of Lwow
Certficat of Residence
On the strength of the one cetifying, that Gabara Ewa, employed as a servant, spinster, born in 1906, has the right to reside in the Nienowice Municipality.
Nienowice, 11 March 1926
