Latin translation of Baptismal certificate copies
Hello Hannia,
I have similar documents for my great-grandparents, transcribed a number of years ago. My main challenge is knowing which city named Czarna is the correct location. I cannot find a Polish or English translation for the follwing: Districtus: Lescensis Palatinatus: Leopoliensis (Lviv?) Decanatus: Lutoviscensis Would you please help to distinguish which St. Demetrius Martyr church in Czarna these certificates specify within the Przemysl diocese. I found one online that is existing today Wooden church in Czarna :: 360 :: Panorama File:Czarna2(js).jpg - Wikimedia Commons but also saw a blog thread of another one that is no longer standing Czarna - Podkarpackie - Powiat bieszczadzki - Polska – mapa, miejscowości, opisy – Góry-Latem.pl If there is a way to cross-reference these areas with the Latin above I would be very grateful to you. Any other details that you think would be important to know would be appreciated. Paul - if you have maps of these areas from the 19th century I would be appreciative as well. Sincerely, Mike Last edited by sushynsk; 15th October 2011 at 03:13. |

Tree of family looks in coherence with family with (from) so Galara Truchan Nienowic. They lived in (to) number 84 Nienowicach.

Mike, I am absolutely certain your Czarna is the one on the attachments - in the very south-east corner of Poland, close to the Ukrainian border. Your 'Decanatus: Lutoviscensis' is a reference to the town of Lutowiska (see attachments). Here are the maps, from 1906, 1938, and today.

Hi All
I came across this thread while looking for information about my great grandparents baptism records. It seems some of the information on mine is the same Palatinatus: Leopoliensis (is this actually Lviv?) Districtus: Lescensis (I am not sure what this is????) Dioecesis: I am not sure what the document says but I think Przemyslins (maybe Przemusl??) Decanatus: Baligrod Parochia: Mchawa I have uploaded the records. I would like to confirm the locations or areas of the: Palatinatus: Districtus: Dioecesis: I would also appreciate it if anyone give set me in the right direction to find more information about relatives. |
