Looking for Tymchuk Family
I am new to this site, but really enjoy reading all the articles received and answered.
We are looking for the Tymchuk family. George Tymchuk, his wife Maria (nee: Fodchuk) and son Timofiy came to Canada in 1913 from the village of Orelets, Sniatyn. They had other children Paraska, Sofia, and Nikolaj who came to Canada earlier. George Tymchuk was the youngest of three brothers and one sister. We cannot find the Tymchuk brothers and their family in the village of Orelets. We do not know where they went. We found in the LDS files that the sister Maria was married to Hrushka. How can I find out if there are any Hrushka in the village? Are there any Tymchuks in the village of Orelets?? George’s mother’s maiden name was Petruk. If any one can help me out. Thank you Mary |

Most of the Snyatyn District Ukrainians were/are Hutsuls. This is a micro-ethnic Ruthenian/Ukrainian group. They were/are montenyard (mountain) people. Hutsuls - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

thanks for your help
Thanks Hannia and Irene for your quick response.
We know that George Tymchuk’s wife Maria nee: Fodchuk comes from the village of Tylova. The film I researched from Orelets was just the deaths from 1874-1907. Greek Catholic Church, Orelec (Sniatyn) Volume 631-1/567 Deaths 1874-1907 FHL INTL Film 1696792 Item 5 Any other film that I should look at?? I could not find the film of marriages etc. Would you know what churches there are in Orelets? |

All I could find for Orelets is following: Title Metrical books, 1874-1907 Authors Greek Catholic Church. Orelec (Śniatyn) (Main Author) Notes Microreproduction of original manuscripts at the State Archives of Ivano-Frankivs′k Region, Ukraine. Greek Catholic Church records (deaths) in Orelec (Śniatyn), Galizien, Austria; later Orelec (Śniatyn), Stanisławów, Poland; now Orelet︠s︡′, Sni︠a︡tyn, Ivano-Frankivs′k, Ukraine. During WW2 this region was battered by the Russians and the Germans. Should you decide to make such an inquiry, make sure that you are very specific. One wild goose chase and you will have an disgruntled archivist on your hands. Tulova should not be a surprise.
