Antalocz, Anna Habocsik, Gyorgy Knomyik, Czuczko, and Bensik Remetevasgyar, Ung megye
looking for info on Anna Habocsik born around 1890 livd in Antalocz Ung Megye Hungary. Sister is Marie born around 1891
Anna Habocsik had 2 children by father unknown (would love that info) died between 1907 -1908 1. Anna Madge unknown last name born 1905 Antalocz 2. Janos unknown last name born 1908 Antalocz Anna Habocsik left Antalocz in 1911 to go to the USA per ship manifest left the kids with "mother" (s/b sister) Maria Habocsik (that info I know passed down thru family) arrived in USA Jan 25, 1911 heading for Reading, PA to her cousin's (Gyorgy Knomyik) home. Ship passage was paid by a cousin and she had 2 cousins traveling with her who were heading to their step fathers home....they were Janos 3 and Maria 6 Czuczko. Anna Habocsik once in USA married Alex Hajnos and he adobted the kids and had them brought over with Aunt Maria Habocsik on Jan 5, 1912 and per ship manifest says they left "mother" Janisne Bensik (I think it says) in Remetevasgyar (maybe the mother remarried? dont know about the name....maybe Mother in Law and that is the fathers last name...dont know) So now the kids have been adobtd and now have the name Hajnos when they went over on ship. Would love any info on this family and would love to know who the father was and did they married. thank you Pamela Seeley & William T Sorrels/Lois Ann Williamson Sorrels/Anna Madge Hajnos Williamson/Anna Habocsik |

Today hamlet size Antalovtsi (c æ in Ukrainian) belongs to the Hudlovo village cluster w/which it shares Village Administration > Uzhorodskij raion/district > Zakarpatska oblast/region > Ukraine, zip 89415. Total population 1,059.
__________________________________________________ Originally this property on the Violla River was documented as belonging to King Ferdinand*** in 1548. In 1630 it was turned over to the noble estate of Nevitsky-Drugets. The noble family hired an agent named Antal, who founded a village in 1631, gave it his own name and acted as village mayor and chief tax collector. In 1631 there was just a handful of Ruthenian peasant households and one large farm. In time the Ruthenian peasant population grew because the logging industry took hold here. By the late 17th century there was also an influx of Slovak workers. A Greek Catholic Church was built in the 18th century. Today the hamlet is mainly known for its country resorts. ***Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Panoramio - Photo of Анталовці Ad w/pix of Bolhovan, a resort in Antalovtsi. There might be other Hlodzik, but telephones for many villagers are still considered a luxury. ڦ .. . There are 1,036 films just sitting there, waiting for funding and volunteers. Until the films are indexed, you can do one of two things: make an inquiry at the Uzhorod Archives or hire a local to do the research. I can provide you w/both if you like. PS > Hajnos (actually closer transliteration/sounds like HI-NYSH = in Ukr ) also appears in phone book.

Hannia,
Thank you for your response ![]() I would like to inquire at the Uzhorod Archieves, your help would be great. Hajnos is the man she met in the USA so it wouldnt be one in the phone book over there, but thank you for that info also. Pam |

Pam,
There is a Hainysh/Hajnos in the Hudlovo telephone book !!! It was not unusual for immigrants to hook up w/people from same village or district or region. It made life a little easier, a little more comfortable in the New Country. Those were the preferred spouses. I ran all the surnames you provided and those were the only ones in village phone directory. I will post the archives address later today.

Quote:
I was born and spent half my childhood in Germany. Hajnos/Hainysh is not an ethnic German surname. Ethnically it is Magyar/Hungarian surname. ______________________________ I looked at the manifest for Marya and children. Girl , Anna, was 7 yrs old and Janos was listed as 3 yrs old. I like you, had some trouble with Mother's name. Today there is nothing like that listed in the village, but I also checked Chop and Uzhorod for something that might resemble it and found only following four: Bentsa, Benzya, Benesh, and Benke. I am transliterating these surnames from Ukrainian-Cyrillic. Benesh seems a viable possibility. Benesh easily recognizable Magyar surname. Might also appear as Benes. S = SH sound in Hungarian. What religion did the families in your inquiry practice? That will be important to know before submitting inquiry.
