In order to get help, you need to do better than supply a list of surnames.

List the full name of the Immigrant Ancestor. If you do not have exact dates, please provide time frames. What is the family story about this family member? Where did he/she settle upon immigration? Have you located any immigration documentation for them. One of our members, Ruth (zarjacks), is brilliant at locating such documentation, but you have to provide a bit more than a surname for her to get started.

Immigrants frequently referred to their district center as place of origin for geographic reference, because their own villages were small. Kitsman is such a district w/appx 40+ villages in the district.

Eli Butuk from ancestry.ca

Michael,
I see that you posted some information on the history forum so this is what I have found so far:

1916 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta
about Eli Butuk

Name: Eli Butuk in Ukrainian Ilias/Ilko
Gender: Male
Marital Status: Married
Age: 32
Est. Birth Year: 1884
Birthplace: Austria
Year of immigration: 1902
Home in 1916: 28, Mackenzie, Saskatchewan
Address: 30, 8, 2, Insinger
Racial or Tribal Origin: Austrian
Relation to Head of Household: Self
Spouse's name: Domna Butuk in Urainian Dominica
Sub District Desc.: Township 30, ranges 6, 7, 8 and 9, W. 2. M., including the Village of Sheho
Household Members: Name Age
Eli Butuk 32
Domna Butuk 23
Wesley Butuk 4
Matt Butuk 3
Annie Butuk 1
George Butuk 0

Michael,
this record has some important information for tracing back to your ancestral village (s?).
  1. Eli arrived in 1902
  2. he was naturalized as a Canadian citizen in 1910
  3. Domna arrived in 1900 (presumably with her Chikosky family)
  4. Domna was naturalized in 1906

It also gives the information on Naturalization and where Eli homesteaded so you could obtain the naturalization or homestead records and find out where he came from. But wait because we may be able to determine this from other information on the internet. I will be back.
Ruth

Brother of Eli Butuk? arrived 1901

1916 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta
about Annie Butuk Name: Annie Butuk
Gender: Female
Marital Status: Married
Age: 32
Est. Birth Year: 1884
Birthplace: Austria
Year of immigration: 1901
Home in 1916: 28, Mackenzie, Saskatchewan
Address: 30, 8, 2, Insinger
Racial or Tribal Origin: Austrian
Relation to Head of Household: Wife
Spouse's name: Fred Butuk ** Ukrainian name = Fedor
Sub District Desc.: Township 30, ranges 6, 7, 8 and 9, W. 2. M., including the Village of Sheho
Household Members: Name Age
Fred Butuk 39
Annie Butuk 32
Mary Butuk 15
John Butuk 12
Elia Butuk 6
Wasil Butuk 4
Nicoli Butuk 1

If you scan through the pages of the 1916 census you will find many Kereluks as well, maybe related to your Mary Kuruluk.

Note: The surnames have many different spellings because immigrants were often illiterate and the names had to be transcribed to English from the Cyrillic alphabet by officials unfamiliar with Cyrillic letters. All spellings should be searched.

Michael,
You can also order death certificates (which might have village of birth named) for relatives who died in the province of Saskatchewan from the following link. I would only do it as a last resort because of cost. Always check lower cost options first.
