Jente Litwak from Tuczyn and Rowne
Jenta Litwak (or Yente or Lytwack…) was married to Mordechai Litwak, and they lived in Tuczyn back in the begining of the former century. At 1917 their son Michael was born. May be they had another daughter, but we don't know her name. Around 1929-30 they moved to Rowne. In 1934-5 Michael left to Radom. Jente and Mordechai stayed in Rowne. As far as we know they got murdered around 1941-2 but we are not sure whether it was in Rowne or they went back to Tuczyn and got murdered there. Michael survived the war, went to Israel, got married, had one sun in 1947, and gut killed at 1948 in the war in Israel. His son, which Im doing ther research for, now 63, is very anxious to find out about the roots of his father whome he didn’t get to know, mostly about his granma Jente:
1 . when and how and where she was murdered 2. what was her maiden name, where she was born, did she have any brothers or sisters He would also like to find out whether his granpa Mordechai had any further family in Tuczyn or Rowne, and what they were doing there, and any other detail that can be found . I know the names are very common and not easy to trace. I assume part of the information can be found in censuses or any kind of lists of the population in the years of 19880-1943. I've found nothing yet in lists that can be found in the internet from Yad Vashem in Israel concerning the Shoah. Someone advised me to ask you! Do you have any access to censuses or population lists in Ukraine (Poland back there) from those years? Or can you advise me where can I search for that kind of information? Sincerely, Snait Ayalon |

If you go to www.familysearch.org you can check to see if the Family History Center has any church records they microfilmed. On the home page click on "library catelog" (or something like that) and choose place names to do your search. Signing up to the site is free. You can than order the film to come to your nearest Family History center (you can find which one on the same site).
I always start with putting in the country name first and then the town. I did not see anything with the spellings you gave so you will need to do more to find the correct spellings. Have you found these places on a map? Do you know what District or Oblast they are in? That would be the first place to start. Ukraine has many villages with the same name even in the same oblast so you want to be sure you are searchng the correct village. There is a small fee to bring the film to your nearest center where you would go to view it. I paid $6 cdn for one film. Sometimes there can be a couple of films for each village you are searcing. Snait,
Yours is a complex and difficult search and I have not forgotten you. By the end of this weekend I should have some recommendations for you. Are you in Israel? Jiggy, Unfortunately records for Jewish Genealogy in what was Vohlyn/Wolyn gubernia/wojiwodstwo > Russia then Reconstituted Poland then SSR Ukraine, are very scarce. Additionally, the Litwak surname indicates Jewish 15th century roots in the Bialostok (Grodno/Brest) area.
