Hi Mike,

Glad to help. As soon as I hear from Maxym, I will notify you.

I have already changed the URL to the Palmer book.

Are you a skier? The Carpathians are great for skiing. It is also a much cheaper trip when you travel there during winter.

Hannia,

How were your holidays? Mine were pretty good.

When you talk to your friend Maxym, can you possibly find out what he might charge for copies, if they are available, and if not, transcripts of the following:

• Birth record of Demes Ferencz
• Birth, marriage and death records of his parents, Demes Ferencz and Berta Rosalia
• Any information on his sister Demes Ilona, including her birth, marriage and death records

I would like to at least start with that information, and we could talk about working our way back from there.

Thanks again!

Mike

TiszaSalamon (Solomonove)

Mike,

My great-grandfather, Mano Stern, emigrated from TiszaSalamon in 1901. He also ended up in Pittsburgh. He died in his thirties though.

Have you been able to locate any detailed information about the inhabitants of the town in the late 1800's or early 1900's.

Scott,

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this message. I haven't checked this site in awhile. As of yet I haven't located very much contemporary information from Tiszasalamon, with the exception of a mention of the town in the 1877 Gazetteer of Hungary, which lists the number of people of each religion in each town and where the nearest church/place of worship was located.

KlimoTheca :: Könyvtár

My ultimate goal is to locate the actual church records from the late 1800's and trace my family line back as far as possible, and also locate living relatives in that area. I have had some success with several branches of my mother's family, going back to the late 1700's with my grandfather and grandmother's paternal lines, located in Gömör and Zemplén counties, respectively. I'd like to be able to see how far back I can trace my last name, which to my knowledge originated in Tiszasalamon.

If I come across any more information, I'll let you know.

Mike
