Hi, thank you for your response! Would you share the email addresses with me so that I can try to contact the archives? Also, would you share the name and contact information of the person who helped you? Maybe he could help me? How much does he charge?
Respectfully, Laura |

Hello Laurie.
Khust, the district center town in Zakarpatska region, is a fair size town of appx 43,000+. As per records that Ruth located, your immigrant ancestor was from a village (which may be in Slovakia today) that was FORMERLY in the Khust district. Maxym, the researcher in Uzhorod, will not perform research, unless your documentation is vetted. I suspect that the records you are looking for are in Slovakia???

Khust from Shtetlseeker:
JewishGen Locality Page - Khust, Ukraine Before WW1, Khust (Huszt) was part of Hungary, Maramaros, District and Province. Would birth records stay in Hungary or move to later governments (Czechoslovakia, Soviet Union, Ukraine), Hannia ? |

Ruth,
??? Velka Koljes is very likely Velky Kolacin in Slovakia today. LDS has filmed Slovakian records, but the key is locating EXACT PLACE and its cluster group. There is a Gazetteer that can be ordered. BUT if I remember correctly, Laurie's parents negated everything we came up with. __________________________________________________ I suspect that Grandfather was born Bohemian German and at one point lived in Vynohradiv and Khust. It is not uncommon to run across Germans that were migratory in the Carpathian Mountain REGIONS. The answer is somewhere in USA.
