It is 4 miles to the Polish border. If this is not the one, my second choice would be the one in Strij, Whole bunch of Buchalo living there as well.

Following is the selo/village Zavadiv >Javoriv:

Hi Chris, I have closely followed your thread and had big smiles at Irene's mushroom stories.... So had a look at your village on a 1935 map which is attached. If the attachment fails, contact me by email.

I see - my Zavadiv is in the Zhovkva district
The area of the Yavoriv International Military training grounds is a mushrooming mecca around Yavoriv. 131 villages were erased and villagers sent away during its construction - back in the Soviet times. Some traces of the old life have survived

Thanks Everyone for your help.

That could be him on the ship record although he was married with kids in Galicia so his wife Maria and sons should have been listed as well.

I found them on this LDS site

Hello Chris - From distant cousin Daryl Bachalo

Hello Chris,

I hope you return to this thread to get this message.

It was interesting to read your thread on your search for information on our ancestors. The information you have found concurs with what we have on our great grandparents Maxim and Mary (Marie) Bachalo. My grandfather was Stephan. Two siblings were missing from the info on your last post. Nellie and John also immigrated from Zawodov. And Mike was born later in Alonsa, MB. You mentioned the close family ties with the Zdans. Not sure if you were aware that my grandfather Stephan married Kathleen Zdan and Nellie Bachalo married Kathleen's brother John Zdan. The Zdans that live in the Alonsa area today are descendants of this couple. In the family records that I was given to me by my aunt Eileen it has your grandmother's name prior to being married as Mary Zedan. Is this correct or was she too a Zdan?

It is intriguing that your name is Chris as I have a first cousin who shares the same name. I'm sure you are aware of him if you have ever Googled your name on the internet. About 114,000 responses pertaing to his work in the comic industry.

It would be great to get hear from you and I could put you in touch with members of my family who also have done some extensive research on our family history.

Sincerely,
Daryl Bachalo
