KUCHMAK = K makes it into Western Ukrainian suffix = SOMEONE WHO WEARS WOOL HAT

There are appx 175+ individuals w/ Kuchmak (Кучмак in Ukr) surname residing in Ukraine today. Most are in the Ternopil and Lviv regions.

My grandparents lived in Zadnishivka, Ternopilska str,62 if we are talking about the same could contact with me bt Skype or ICQ.

Yes - we may be related but it would be difficult to prove as I understand from Igor Voronchak that there are no records for the village in either the Ternopil or Lviv archives and as well church records are not available.

DNA tests?

In the USA there is a large Kuchmak population in the states of Illinois and Pennsylvania and a smaller one in Long Island, New York - these are descendants of Kuchmaks who came from Zadnishivka.

In Canada there are my Kuchmaks (9 cousins and their families) in the Toronto, Ontario area (all from parents from Zadnishivka of course) plus a few individuals that I have not checked on yet.

In Western Canada there are a great many descendants of a Kuchmak family that came to Canada in the early 1900's but they are from the village of Lubienie near Lviv.

I've also had contact with a lady from Poland whose grandmother was from Zadnishivka.

Surely someone has to be related to someone else in the grouping!

Please understand that I think very highly of Ihor, but I just want to double check something, because it is known that Skalat villages were scattered in the indexing process.

Your ancestral village did not have its own GC church. The filial parish was in Staromishchyna. Notice that manuscripts filmed were from Lvv and Warsaw. I know that these are very old records, but they are records. From 1835 all other localities are included and yet only film 2352176 is separated out???
